What is a Chapter 13 Confirmation Hearing?

What is a Chapter 13 Confirmation Hearing?

You will hear the terms "Confirmation hearing", "plan", and "Trustee's Opposition (TSOP)" several times during the course of your case.  The Chapter 13 confirmation hearing determines whether the bankruptcy judge approves your Chapter 13 Plan.  Your Chapter 13 Trustee (in Las Vegas, there are two (2) Chapter 13 Trustees: Kathleen Leavitt and Rick Yarnall) plays a big part in this process and will normally only recommend your case for confirmation once all issues set forth on the Trustee's Opposition are resolved.  The Trustee's recommendations play a major role in the Court's decisions on whether to approve your case. Confirmation is a big step in the Chapter 13 process and means that you are on your way to a successful Chapter 13.

It is common for the confirmation process of a plan to take anywhere from 6-12 months or longer into your case.
